Setting a Port in the Instruments Mixer Window Use the Port setting to select the port through which you want the Output to transmit data. Clicking in the Port field brings you to the Layers dialog, which allows you to create up to 8 layers for any particular MIDI Metro Output. The Layers dialog allows you to set the ports and channels for each of the individuallayers. Audio ports cannot be layered.Assigning an Output routed to an Audio port to a track instructs Metro to playback that track as an Audio Track. Audio Tracks support the playback of mono or interleaved stereo audio files and each Audio Track can playback at a different sample rate. Up to 64 Audio Tracks can be routed to a single Audio port, which is essentially a 2 channel output buss.An Audio Track’s signal path begins with mono or interleaved stereo audio regions which canbe sent through Metro’s real-time Effects (addressing multiple effects routed in series) sent to theAudio Track’s volume and pan controls (allowing 15 bit volume automation) before routed toa stereo audio port (output). Audio ports accommodate up to 64 Audio Tracks.Multiple audio ports are configurable within a Metro Session. Audio cards likethe Korg 1212I/O use dedicated audio ports to address specific sets of outputpairs. For example the 1212I/O’s audio ports include the analog output, S/PDIF output, or any of the ADATFiber-optic output pairs.See Also:Setting a Channel in the Instruments Mixer WindowSelecting a Bank Select Message in the Instrument Mixer WindowSetting a Program Number in the Instruments Mixer WindowSetting a Pan Value in the Instruments Mixer WindowSetting a Data Field Value in the Instruments Mixer WindowMuting and Soloing Outputs in the Instruments Mixer WindowOutput NameFadersMaster FaderSnapshot Button
