Assigning an instrument to the staff

You can assign a particular instrument to a track. METRO automaticallyassigns the clef and range according to the instrument you choose. To do so:

  1. Press and hold the mouse on the Instrument Name pop-up menu

  2. Move the cursor over the desired instrument and release the mouse button.

This has several consequences. The preset name and abbreviation for theinstrument appear in the name and abbreviation boxes. If you choose a non-percussioninstrument, METRO sets the track to the appropriate clef and range.

If you select a percussion instrument, METRO displays a grid that lets youassign a drum mapping to the notes on the track.
