Tap TempoWhile the Tap Tempo dialog box is open, you can tap a tempo by pressing the Spacebar or any key on your MIDI controller device. Metro averages the time betweenMIDI events or Spacebar key presses and converts that time to Beats Per Minute. Notice that the tempo you tap is displayed in the Tempo setting in the Transport window as well as in the Tap Tempo dialog box. Tapping a tempo during playback merely lets you use the dialog box tocalculate an average tempo. Tapping a tempo during record places a Tempo event in thecurrent Section (if Tempo events are enabled for recording in the Record Criteria under the Setup menu). Note: When recording Tempo events in the Tap Tempo dialog, it is recommended that you set a lengthy Count In time so you can open the Tap Tempo dialog and prepare yourself before recording actually begins. Important: You cannot Tap Tempo when Metro is Connected to DECK, synced to MIDI Time Code, or synced to MIDI Clock. When recording tap tempo and using audio files the affect of the tempo changes will not be heard until play back is re-initiated. Tap Tempo is a great way to conform Metro’s BPM setting to match the tempo of an audio file. See Also:Controlling Tempo Recording Tempo Changes from Your Controller |
