Assigning Pan or Volume Faders to Shape Controller Data

Metro makes it possible to assign the Instrument Mixer window’s pan knobs or volume faders to any controller number or to a SysEx message. You can assign the faders in not only the Instrument Mixers window’s Main window but also its Aux windows.

To assign a volume fader to a controller:

  1. In the Instruments Mixer window, locate the fader of Output that you want to be controlled by a volume fader (look at the bottom of the screen).

  2. Double-click the Output name to open the Define Outputs dialog box for that Output.

  3. Click Assign Volume Slider.

The Assign to Vertical Slider dialog box appears.

  1. Click the Assign Controller radio button.

  2. In the field to the right of the Assign Controller radio button, enter thenumber of the controller you want to control with the volume fader. For example,enter 2 if you want to create Breath Controller data.

  3. Click OK.

To assign a pan knob to a controller:

  1. In the Instruments Mixer window, locate an Output that is set to the channel and port you want to be controlled by a pan knob.

  2. Double-click the Output name to open the Define Outputs dialog box for that Output.

  3. Click Assign Pan Slider.

The Assign to Rotary Slider dialog box appears.

  1. Click the Assign Controller radio button.

  2. In the field to the right of the Assign Controller radio button, enter thenumber of the controller you want to control with the pan knob. For example, enter2 if you want to create Breath Controller data.

  3. Click OK.
