| Creating Layered Outputs Layering Outputs is an exciting way to create new sounds in Metro. A layered Output can send the same MIDI data to up to 8 different destinations. You can send MIDI data to 8 channels on one sound module, or to 8 different sound modules, or to combinations of modules and channels. Important: Layered outputs do not work with synthesizer plug-in MIDI ports. To create a layered Output:- Open the Instruments Mixer window (Command-I).
- At the bottom of the Instruments Mixer window, find the name of the MIDI Output you want to replace and click the Port button that is located at the top of that module.
The Layers dialog box appears.- In the Output field, type a descriptive name for your new Output, such as “Korg 1234.” The Output name should remind you what module(s) and channels this Output sends data to.
- In the first Port field, use the pop-up menu to choose the first module or sound card you want this Output to send data to.
- In the first Channel field type a channel number.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for all the modules and channels you want for this Output and click OK.
The name of your new Output appears at the bottom of its module in the Instruments Mixerwindow. The Port button in that module now reads “Layer.”
