Adding the first lyric

To add a lyric, click the Add Lyric button. A new lyric line appears in the lyric list, selected for editing,with the default name Lyrics x.

To change the name of the lyric, click the lyric name field and type a newname. You can also specify the voice, verse and measure to which this lyric willapply.

Type your lyrics into the Lyric editing area. Here are the rules:

  • Spaces or hyphens between words or syllables let METRO know to put the next word or syllable onthe next note in the melody.

  • To extend a word or syllable across more than one note, type an underscore foreach note.

  • To assign multiple words to a single note, type non-breaking spaces(option-space) between the words.

  • To assign multiple syllables to a single note, type non-breaking hyphens(option-hyphen) between the syllables.

  • To skip notes at the beginning of the measure or between lyrics, press thespacebar at the beginning of the lyric (once for each note you wish to skip).
