Manage Lead Generator Presets
This dialog, accessed from the special menu, allows you to manage presets for Rhythm Explorer's lead generator algorithm.
A lead generator preset can contain up to 64 pattern members. Pitch bend will reduce the number of pattern members available.
Keep
in mind that all it takes is one bad preset to taint the output of the
lead generator. A good way to test the results is to add a preset and
then in lead generator preferences tab 1 of the Rhythm Explorer's preferences dialog,
set the weight of only the 'preset' generation method and then select
only the last preset in the 'from' and 'to' preset range fields. Then
run the lead generator to hear the results.
Add Selection As Lead
If
there are no selected notes when this dialog opens, 'Add Selection As
Lead' will be grayed out. Otherwise this selection will add a lead
generator preset with the desired options to the current Artist Presets
file when 'OK' is pressed.
The 'Scale Root Note'
is the root note of the selected riff. It is important that this is set
correctly before adding lead generator presets.
Edit Existing Lead
When selected, pressing 'OK' will modify the selected preset in the current Artist Presets file.
'Delete'
will remove the selected preset from the Artist Presets file. Be
careful when using this as the preset cannot be retrieved after
deletion.
Add/Edit Lead Generator options
- 'Don't repeat' sends a hint to the lead generator to not repeat this riff as often as other presets.
- 'Is Fragment' instructs the lead generator that this preset is only a fragment of a full lead generator pattern.
- 'Expand' tells the lead generator to expand this riff before adding it into the rhythm explorer track.
- 'Is Blues Turnaround' instruct the lead generator to only use this preset during blues turnarounds.
- 'Rest
at End' add the empty space at the end of the selection to the preset.
If there is no empty space this option will be grayed out.
- 'Disallow Rhythm Mods' instructs the lead generator to not allow modifications to the rhythm of this preset.
Artist Presets File
This
is where the presets are saved or pasted from when either the 'OK' or
the 'Paste" buttons are pressed. Press 'New...' to create a new artists
presets file or press 'open...' to open an existing one for use. The
full path to the currently selected artists presets file is shown here.
If the 'write' button is not checked the file will not be written but
the changes made here will be retained in memory.
Paste
Paste
will paste the currently selected lead into the currently selected
track. Note that this happens through the lead generator algorithm and
is therefore not guaranteed to produce the same results every time as,
among other things, it will transpose to the current key.
