Recording Controller Events If you’re recording live, you’ll probably want to record Controller events at the same time that you’re recording Notes, Tempo and other data. You might also choose to record Controller events on the same track as Noteevents, or onto a separate track containing only controllers; it depends on howyou like to work and the type of controller data you’re recording. For example, if you’re recording performance related data, such as Modulation Wheel, you’ll probably want to record it on the same track as note data. If you’re recording Instrument related data, such as Volume or Pan, you may want to record it separately. To record controller events: Choose Record Criteria from the Setup menu and make sure Controllers is checked in the dialog box to enable the recording of controllers, thenclick OK. Choose Record/Play from the Setup menu and make sure either No Countoff or Countoff is selected. If Wait for First Note Before Recording is selected, Metro will not activate recording until you press a note on yourMIDI controller. If you want to save these Record Criteria and Record and Play Setup settings,choose any of the Preferences options from the File menu and click Save. Record enable a track in the Tracks window by clicking its Record column,placing a selector dot there. Click Record or press Option-R to place Metro in record. Adjust the controller wheel, or knob on your MIDI device, for example move theModulation Wheel. Click Stop or press the Spacebar when you’re satisfied. If you want to view or edit the Controller events you recorded, open the event editor window, or the Graphic Editor window’s Controller display. Controller events appear as numerical data in The Event Editor Window, or graphically within The Controller Displayof The Graphic Editor Window.
