Recording Program Change Events

The easiest way to insert a Program Change event at the beginning of a trackis to enter the Program Change number (or name) in the Pgm column within theTracks window. This encodes a Program Change event for that track at Bar 1, Beat1, Clock 0.

You can also record Program Change events. The following is a quick way torecord one event and have Metro automatically place it at the beginning of yourrecord track:

  1. Choose Record Criteria from the Setup menu and check Program Change to enable the recording of Program Change events.

  2. Choose Record/Play from the Setup menu.

The Record and Play Setup dialog box appears.

  1. Set a Countoff of at least 1 bar, then click OK.

  2. Record enable a track in the Tracks window by clicking its Record column, placing a selector dot there.

  3. Click Record or press Option-R to place Metro in record.

  4. During the Countoff that you set, send a program change from your MIDI devicefront panel; in other words, push the appropriate button.

Metro automatically places any Program Change and System Exclusive events you play during a Countoff at the beginning record time of the recordtrack. Aside from entering them manually, this is a good way to record ProgramChange events at Bar 1, Beat 1, Clock 0.

You can also use the Snapshot button in the Instrument Mixer window to insert Program Change events to specific insertion points across multiple tracks.
