Effects Chain w/Midi

Postby MP » Sun Aug 28, 2005 11:20 am

Hi All,

I need to create a chain of effects that are live controllable via midi. I have noticed that when I add multiple plugins with midi input to a single track (or aux), only the first plug-in I add shows up as a midi output. Is this how it works or am I missing something? I realize that I can place each effect on a separate aux (doing so DOES create the plugin's midi output), but I would have effectively broken the chain.

Does anyone have an idea for routing audio from one plugin to the next - while live controlling each plugin?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Mike

Well if you look at the audio chain which passes audio from one plug-in to the next, if the plug-in in question has 0 inputs then any previous link in the chain is useless.

Have you looked at using remote control?

Hi Jeremy,

Let me clarify, I have an audio track from which I am sending to aux 1. Aux 1 has three audio plugins. I want to control each of the plugins via a midi controller (they all have that capability). My controller is selected as a midi in, but I am only able to send midi to the first plugin in the aux - the other two do not show up in the track's output.

I don't think Metro has this capability. However I believe you can automate the plug-ins in the middle of the chain with remote control which may provide the functionality you are looking for.

Thanks, Jeremy. I'll take a closer look at Remote Control.

Jeremy,

I was able accomplish what I needed to by using Remote Control. Thanks for the tip!
