Unable to "Import Audio Files"

Postby Industro » Thu Jul 21, 2005 7:29 pm

I'm not sure if the cause is because of my upgrade to Tiger, my update of QuickTime, or my upgrade to the recent Metro version, but I noticed that all of a sudden, I can no longer import AIF audio files into my Metro project.

When I goto File > Import Audio File > Import Audio File, and locate a stereo AIF file on my hard drive, it is "grayed out" and I am unable to select it for importing.

This is the case with AIFF files that I had previously imported (in previous Metro/OS versions) with no problem. It appears as though Metro doesn't recognize the AIFF files as "available" or "compatible."

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

Please help soon!!!

Thanks!

Just to clarify, I AM able to import these AIF files when I use the File > Import Movie option. (Metro provides a dialog that states it "converts audio file").

The AIF files are audio loops that I exported from Reason. The files are shown with a "QuickTime Icon" on my hard drive. They are 16-bit, 44.1 KHz, stereo AIFF files.

Not sure what has changed, as this is the same process I have used for like a year now. Now, I noticed I can't import the AIFs that I used to.

Strange.

Any help or explanation would be appreciated. If you need additional clarification, just let me know.

I can e-mail you a sample AIF file (that isn't importing) if that would help.

Thanks.

This problem has been fixed in 6.3.2. In the meantime the workaround is to simply drop the aif file on the Metro icon in the dock.
