Metro SE not seeing Fastlane USB

Postby chipster » Sun Dec 28, 2003 3:38 pm

I have just purchased Metro SE 6.0.8 and it does not seem to see my MOTU Fastane USB. In the demo of Metro I had no problems. In midi setup I chose Port A. It will play my midi files through the computer (Mac G4 1 gHz) but not thru fastlane to the Roland XP80. In the demo version I could change the port to A on each track but on SE I do not have that option in. I'm running Mac OS 10.2.8. Any ideas???

This is probably because no receive/transmit channels are specified in AMS (audio MIDI setup).

Note: that the port will show up in 6.1.0.x no matter what so you could also simply try the pre-release version.

If I plug in my midisport interface to the mac, and go into Metro, I can go to the midi setup and view Port A and Port B.....the standard names for the ports.

But if I plug in my external synth and go to the audio/midi setup and add an external instrument to the setup and connect 'cables' to the midisport, metro then shows in the midi setup Yamaha Synth and Port B.

I can select the synth and then metro will output the midi to it.

The installed driver for the Fastlane will make sure it appears in the audio/midi setup.

Your midi files will always plug through the computer if internal is selected. It's just playing the midi with the quicktime musical instruments.
