Can't play audio in OS X

Postby dbergey » Mon Jun 09, 2003 9:42 pm

I have Metro G4 6.0.7, on a PowerBook G4/800. I'm running OS X 10.2.6, and MIDI works fine. Audio seems to record just fine, too; I can see the waveforms in the graphic editor. But no audio will play back. Everything seems to be set properly to use the built-in audio system in Apple's Audio MIDI Preferences, and in Metro's Audio Setup..., and I don't know what else to do. Output Device is 'Built-in Audio Controller', the only option.

Make sure your instruments are assigned properly. In other words, that the audio instrument assigned to the audio track has its port set to built-in audio. You can check this by option-clicking on the instrument assignment in the tracks window or assigning the audio track to port:built-in.

Another thing to look for is that the master instrument fader, in the instruments window, is all the way up.

Are you getting system sounds?

Try importing an audio file and playing it back.

And make sure the instrument faders themselves are up.

another thing.......

open the tracks window and make sure there are no dots (green or yellow) showing in the 'M' and 'S' columns.
These mute or solo a track or several tracks.

an imported audio track should be playable straight away as it imports onto something like "built-in aud 2" even if I only have internal instruments in the modify instruments and busses option.
