M-AUDIO Delta 1010 card

Postby ragnareson » Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:20 am

I have 2 G4 computers. One is running OS9 and the other is running OSX. I've been recording for years using the OS9 with 2 Delta 1010 cards. I was wondering if I would get to monitor both cards if I moved them to the OSX computer. The guy at Guitar Center told me that depends on the recording program I was using.

I am not sure what you mean by 'monitor both cards'. You would be able to have both cards installed if your computer allows it but you would only be able to use one as input and one as output at a time.

The cards are breakout cards. Each card has a stereo spdf in and out 2 xlr in and out and 6 line level in and outs. I can route the inputs for one of the 2 cards to a stereo out as I play live but I can't do both at the same time as I have it set up now on the OS9 computer.

You should be able to use all of the inputs and outputs of a single card simultaneously. You can also use all inputs of both cards simultaneously in OS X by creating what is called an 'aggregate' device. This is done with Apple's Audio/MIDI setup.

Are you saying that I cannot use all of the outputs from both cards?

No I am saying that you can use all the outputs simultaneously under OS X if you create an aggregate device.

I moved the cards to the OSX computer and loaded the drivers and have been trying just about every setting I can think of to get to hear the second card. I can record into all the tracks on both cards and it appears that the track dedicated to the spdf is responding to the other eight tracks but, I still can't monitor the live signal on the second card.

Do I connect the spdf cards with coaxial cable like I did when I had them in the OS9 computer?

Do I install rewire?

Did I install the right driver?

Run Audio MIDI setup and create an aggregate device that encompasses both cards. Name that device and then select the new device in Metro.

Thank you. I had done that but, the problem was either a dirty pot or a level problem on the UB802 mixer. I now have the live audio coming out of both cards at the same time. This has been a year in coming.
