GBand's 'realistic guitar' vs Sampletank

OK. I don't have GB but I did watch the broadcast and I did hear Steve and his friend go on about the realism of GB's guitar and that noone else had got it right.....probably just an advertising point.

But I think even sampletank's 'free guitar' sounds pretty good (with a bit of reverb and atmospherre) compared to others out there.......or are my ears just not fussy?

ST's free guitar and the one they demo'd with GB are different instruments altogether, ST being electric and GB being acoustic.

GB's sounds really sound much better than nearly all soundfonts I've heard, though.

I know they're different instruments.
ST has an acoustic instrument.....in fact quite a few.

What mac are you running GB on?

I was talking about SampleTank Free's electric guitar sound, that's what it seemed you were referring to. Anyway.

I'm running everything on a 667 Ti Powerbook. Gb runs fine until you have 7 or more tracks, then it starts begging for a G5.

I wish I could get GB's ease of use with more of Metro's features. I'm dying for a Metro UI upgrade. I think Jerm should study how GB handles plug-ins and loops. I really like it a lot.

Basically, it allows (almost) any synth plug-in to appear as a 'generator'. You can then save patches right along side Apple's own, with settings for delay (echo in Apple-speak), reverb etc for each individual patch. This makes dealing with software instruments a breeze, because you don't have to remember what synth to load, etc, for that awesome sax patch. It will just be there with the Woodwinds like everything else. This just makes my life so much easier than setting up synths on aux busses and picking their patches from the numerous different UIs. This would be my one big feature request to Jerm. [/url]

Sorry, AU synths would show up below where that screenshot ends. I posted that elsewhere for a different purpose.

Personally I found GB's acustic guitar sounds poo and totally usless.

I have not heard sampletanks version.

I think VSamps is pretty good, although the tone seems to waver a bit.
