Automation Audio Data Audio Automation Audio volume automation in Metro is handled by a special high resolutioncontroller. The volume automation controller for Audio Tracks features 15 bitresolution, which yields 32,767 units between minus infinity and 0 dB. Use the Continuous Data dialog to apply 15 bit Volume (controller 7) automation across audio tracks. The Continuous Data dialog will also generate 32 bit data for effects parameter automation. To use the Continuous Data command: - Select the audio track or aux buss you want to edit in the graphic editor window using the track title bar.
- Change to the view corresponding the kind of data you want to change. For example, if you would like to change the volume, select volume from the view popup of the track title bar.
- From the Options menu, choose Continuous Data.
The Continuous Data dialog box appears. The data to change field reflects the type selected, in step 2 above. In the Select how to change it fields, do one of the following: - Click the Set all values to N button and type a value into the number field. This will produce an unvarying response from the selected data type.
- Click the Add button and type a value in the Add buttons number field. This increases the selected datas values by a constant amount.
- Click the Change to N% button and type a value in the appropriate number field. This changes the selected datas values by the percentage you choose.
- Click the Change gradually fron N to N button and type values in the two number fields. This produces a straight-line transition from the first value typed to the second value.
To enable your changes, open the Instruments Mixer window (Command-I) and make sure the Play automation button is highlighted. The high resolution volume automation is transparent when working in Metro. Working with audio volume automation is nearly identical to working with MIDIcontroller automation. In fact, Metro uses the standard controller data scale (0to 127) when applying changes to high resolution volume automation. Enteraudio automation values based on a scale of 0 to 127. Audio automation isautomatically interpolated to the nearest high resolution value. Note: Volume is mapped logarithmically not linearly. |
