Step Recording with the Pencil ToolTo step record with the Pencil Tool:- In the Graphic Editor window, choose a track and output to record on.
- Use the Arrow Tool to click the location where you want to start recording. Tochoose a precise bar or beat, click in the time line above the piano roll; tochoose a particular clock tick, click in the piano roll or use the Edit > SetSelection dialog box.
- Click the Pencil Tool. The cursor becomes a Crosshair.
- Select a note value by pressing a number on the Macintosh keyboard (1 is awhole note, 2 a half, 4 a quarter,etc.) or click the note icon and select from thepopup menu. Pressing a 3 or clicking the 3 next to the note icon togglestriplet values on or off. Pressing or clicking the period toggles dotted values onor off.
- Select a duration by clicking the % of Value field at the top of the GraphicEditor window.
- Choose a velocity by clicking the Velocity field at the top of the graphiceditor window.
- Do one of the following:
- Click the Audible Keyboard in the left of the active track within the Graphic Editor window's Notes display.
Metro enters notes at the start time and pitch you selected; if you continueto click the keyboard, Metro enters notes one after the other, the same distancefrom each other as the note value selected in the Note Value field.- Click in the Notes display.
Metro enters notes at wherever location you click.- Enter a rest by pressing r on the Mac keyboard or by clicking the word 'Rest' at the top of the Graphic Editor window.
- Repeat steps 5-8 for every note or rest you want to enter.
