Naming Outputs

Naming an Output in the Instruments Mixer window causes all Output displays elsewhere in Metro to show the Output name
note02.gif Note: If you’re working with OMS or MSS, choosing the Make outputs reflect current studio setup document button (within the Special menu’s Modify Outputs and Busses dialog box) will automatically create the same number of Outputs as output device channels defined in your Current Studio Setup document. Output Names are derived from the name and channel associated with each OMS or MSS device. When working with OMS or MSS, you probably won’t need to rename Outputs, but you can do so if you like.

note02.gifNote: In OS 9 if you are not working with OMS, you’ll see 32 Metro Outputs (you may need to scroll to see them—the number of Outputs you can see simultaneously depends on the size of your monitor display). Metro Outputs derive their names from the Modem and Printer ports and all 32 channels. For example, “Modem 1-16” and “Printer 1-16”. You may want to rename these default Metro Outputs to better suit your own MIDI setup.

To name an Output:

  1. In the Instruments Mixer window (Command-I),double-click an Output Name displayed along the bottom of the window (names are located below each fader).

Notice a Define Outputs dialog box appears.
