Creating Outputs with OMS or MSS

If you’re using OMS or MSS you will almost surely want to use the Make outputs reflect studio setup document option of Modify Outputs and Busses dialog box (Special menu). This will create a Metro Output for every MIDI channel in your Current Studio Setup document.

After loading a Metro document file, you might have to select the Make outputs reflect studio setup document button in the Modify Outputs and Busses dialog box (Special menu) in order for Metro Outputs to reflect changes that you make to your OMS or MSS Studio Setup document. Sometimes, you’ll also need to manually reassign Outputs to tracks after using Make outputs reflect studio setup document.

Metro has direct dynamic links to the MIDI system (OMS or MSS) in terms of Record ports and various other information (remember, you can record data from multiple Record ports when a MIDI system is installed). However, most of these parameters (Record From, Send Sync To, etc.) will need to be set manually within the MIDI Setup dialog (Setup menu).

See Audio MIDI Setup for basic information about setting up MIDI devices in MSS under OS X.

See OMS Overview for basic information about OMS.

If you’re not using OMS, you will use the Modify Outputs and Busses dialog box to set up a custom Metro Output configuration.
