Entering Tempo Events in the Tempo Dialog Box Metro automatically enters an initial Tempo event of 120 at the beginning ofthe current Section, at Bar 1, Beat 1, Clock 0. An initial Tempo event meansthat when playback of your Section begins, it will adhere to that tempo until theCounter reaches another Tempo event. This initial tempo is displayed in the Transport above the Tempo slider (whichyou use to adjust playback tempo) and looks like this: Tempo = 120. Initial tempo, which is encoded into the current Section as an event, isalso displayed in the Section Event Editor in the Tempo field at the top of the window. To enter single tempo events in the Tempo dialog box: Do one of the following: To change initial tempo, make sure no time range is selected in the Graphic Editor or Tracks Overview windows. To enter a tempo change after the initial tempo, select the time range for thenew tempo (where it starts and how long it lasts) by dragging in either theGraphic Editor or Tracks Overview windows. Open the Tempo dialog box by clicking the door on the Transport's Tempo setting. Notice that the Tempo dialog box displays the current playback tempo in the Set Tempo to 'N' Beats per Minute field. Adjust the tempo value in the Set Tempos to 'N' beats per minute field to the desired tempo. Click OK. Notice the tempo display in the Transport (Tempo = 'N') shows the current tempo. The tempo you insert will affect the selectedrange; at the end of the range, the previous tempo again takes effect. For example,if the only other tempo in the Section is the initial tempo, then this initialtempo will take effect at the end of the range.
