MIDI Setup Without OMS Metro is an Open Music System (OMS) compatible application. You can run Metro with or without OMS, however OMS offers many advantages, especially when working with multi-port interfaces like Studio 5 or MIDI Time Piece II. You can download OMS at no charge from Opcode. To configure your MIDI setup without OMS: - Choose MIDI Setup from the Setup menu.
The MIDI Setup dialog box appears.- Check the Port(s) that represents the Macintosh port(s) you hooked your MIDI interface to.
If you have a single-port MIDI interface, you will need to check either the Modem or Printer port depending on the Macintosh port to which you connected your interface. If you have a dual-port interface check both the Modem and Printer ports. - Below each Port you checked:
- Click the Speed pop-up if you want to alter the speed (1 MHz is typical); holddown the mouse and choose from the pop-up menu.
- Check MIDI Time Piece (below the Port check box) only if you have and are using a MOTU MIDI Time Piece or compatible device on that port.
- Click the Record button under the desired port in the MIDI Setup dialog box.
- Click the Receive Sync button if you are syncing Metro to external timing sources.
- Click the Send Sync button if you are syncing other MIDI devices to MIDI Clocks generated by Metro.
- Select a timing resolution in Clocks per quarter note (pulses per quarternote) by choosing a setting from the pop-up menu.
- Click OK.
