Digital Audio Dialog Options: Connect

Check the Connect checkbox to instruct Metro to sync to the timing of DECK II's audio engine. When Connect is enabled, Metro uses DECK II's sample-accurate audio engine to derive its timing data; Metro also uses DECK II's current SMPTE Start Time setting (therefore, you should not set a SMPTE Start Time in Metro's Time Code dialog when Connect to DECK is enabled).

While Connect to DECK is enabled, Metro passes its current selection to DECK II when switching outof Metro and bringing DECK II to the foreground (as long as Range mode is activated in DECK II). Passing the current selection to DECK II isextremely useful for placing audio at specific bar numbers derived from Metro. For example, you could select bars 33 through 41 in Metro, switch to DECK II andchoose Set to Punch (via Selection Tools under DECK II's Options menu) to make the current Metro selection your new DECK Punch-In range; give yourself a few measures of pre-roll and Punch-in the new material. Or, you could choose a previously recorded audio file (or region) via DECK II's Add Audio to Clipboard dialog; then select Paste At to paste the audio data at the beginning of the selection derived from Metro.

When DECK Connections are enabled, a small diamond 'indicator light' becomes visible within the titlebar of the Transport window. The diamond 'indicator light' disappears when DECK Connections are disabled.

The Connect checkbox is directly linked to the Open, Launch and Quit checkboxes found directly below it. If Connect is disabled, none of the Open, Launch or Quit settings will take effect.
