Changing a Port

The Edit Port command is in the Outputs pop-up menu of either the track window's output column or the graphic editor window's track title bar. Choosing it allows you to change the output device/port for any given track assigned to a Port. Edit Port: does not apply to tracks that use Metro Outputs.

For example, when using a dual-port MIDI interface (or two single-portinterfaces), the two port options available through Edit Port: could be outputA and outputB.

OS 9 Users Tips

note02.gif OMS: Installing OMS allows Metro users to customize the port name for each Cable on a multi-port MIDI interface (such as the MIDI Time Piece, Studio 4, or Studio 5). For example, OMS allows you to name each port (Cable assignment) according to the MIDI devices attached to it (i.e., K2000, 01/W, TX802, S-760, etc.), as opposed to the MIDI Time Piece’s numerical port designations (i.e., C:1, C:2, C:3, C:4, etc.).

note02.gif Note: If you are using a MIDI Time Piece, be sure to select that option when usingthe MIDI Setup dialog box, accessible in the Setup menu. If you are running OMS, be sure that it recognizes the MIDI Time Piece. When you choose Cable 0 (zero), a MIDI Time Piece routes a track’s MIDI data to all MIDI Time Piece cables simultaneously.
