SampleTank Dirt in Tracks overview

Postby fastlanephil » Mon Dec 27, 2004 1:58 am

I'm getting some noise with ST2's French Horn and it is showing up as what looks like dirt or something brown in the tracks overview window. I just discovered what that weird window does-it saves you a lot of work. I assume the brown stuff is audio noise that Metro is detecting from the sample. I tried the French Horn by itself in a new file and without reverb but I'm still getting a soft crackle but the brown stuff isn't in the tracks overview window. I guess this must be a sampling loop noise. Does anyone else hear this with the French Horn in ST2. Will SoundSoap2 remove this noise though it's probably a good utility to have anyway for a final mix.

The brown is probably some controllers. Look in the event window and the time that the brown stuff occurs to see exactly what it is.

Your right, it's modulation for some reason. It's also in the piano track as sustain. I'm not sure why the F horn is dirty but i'll play with it. It's also makes my Clavinova speakers rattle if I have it up too loud. I can always use GPO for that instrument. GPO may come in handy yet but for what i'm doing ST2 is a much better tool and the string sections from Sonic Reality's Symphony Strings expansion tank sound better than GPO's also.

Audio Buffers

Postby fastlanephil » Mon Jan 10, 2005 1:37 am

We'll, I have spent a few hair pulling hours trying to find the reason for the clicks in the tracks. I can't wait for the audio buffer packet size to be where it bites me on the nose so i'll remember to up it for play back.

Yes, it should be easier to change.
