No Play Thru on audio record but OK at playback

When recording audio I cannot activate 'play through' to enable monitoring of line-in. Using osx 10.3.9 with Metro 6.2.2.1 - have used metro for many years in os9 without any problems. Guess I have missed something in online help but am baffled by this - any ideas?

If your audio device has play-thru then you can use it with LX. Most audio devices for OS X do not. Built-in audio for OS 9 did support play-thru. Metro, the full version, has a software audio through that allows you to do this as well as play directly through plug-ins in realtime but introduces some latency.

So I guess if your audio card does not support play thru you have two options.

1. Get a mixer. There are mixers of decent quality starting at less $80.
2. Upgrade to the full version of Metro.
