different controllers

Postby niro » Thu Nov 11, 2004 4:50 pm

if i have multiple instruments i want to control with midi but their controllers aren't standard, how can i keep track of the controller names without having to memorize numbers per instrument? for example, if i have a synth where controller 25 is "octave select" and another where controller 25 is "waveform select" how can i assign that info? i tried using "favorite controllers" but it only allows me to have one static group of controller names per session.

Controller assignments are tied to program name banks. Create a new program name bank and then assign controllers at will. Remember to save preferences (and/or to a .ins file) to make the changes permanent.

i tried this but it seems program names cannot be edited from the "Program Names" dialog after clicking "New" or opening and editing an existing .ins file (i guess i should file a bug). however i manually wrote the .ins textfiles i needed and metro read them just fine, and assigning controllers by program name works great.

Program names editing works fine. After clicking new and then edit, you need to click on the double dash and then wait a few seconds in order to edit them. This part of the program uses Apple's standard text browser and that is just the way it works.
