URE/Revo-Arp/Lead Gen and Time Signatures

Postby Lytz1 » Thu Nov 08, 2018 5:24 pm

An interesting question came up:

I recently noticed that Metro can do some awesome crazy stuff with time signatures.
(repeat multiple time-signatures prog-rock style)
this is VERY cool.

Now what I'd like to know is if the URE Algos (Especially the Drum and the Bass Algo)
and the LeadGen take (changing) time-signatures into account on calculation.

(Like resetting/restarting the pattern on bar and/or beat boundaries when the time-sig
arrives back at the '1'. I've tested this already, but I am not quite sure...
I thought there should be a clearer noticeable pattern-break when returning to '1', but I might be mistaken...)

Best,
tL.

I need to check the code but I don't think any of the algorithms re-align to bars except the lead generator. And, even the lead generator may not align to bars correctly with multiple time signatures.

You can always re-run the URE starting at the new bar.

Alright. I tested again with going one-by-one.

So it seems like they all do. Arp 1 I am not sure.
Everything else seems to calculate based on the current timesig.
Including the LeadGen.

Whoa. Pretty cool stuff. :!:

Ah I see, so when just one odd time signature is used, it works.
But when multiple timesignatures are in the song, the result might be off and we need to go time-sig by time-sig.
(i.e. apply LeadGen/URE at every place a new time signature starts)

Correct?

(EDIT: Yes. Correct. Then it does what I was expecting in the first place. Very noticeable pattern change on
time signature change. )

Perhaps, not really sure. If you find a problem where you have to do that, send me the Metro file and I can look into seeing if there is a way to handle it better in the code.

Ok, just be sure, I'll send you a file later.

Thanks,
