This will happen if you try run Metro while another version is already running. The preferences file is open with read/write access from the other version that is already running.

If you are sure you are not running another version then you may have a corrupt preferences file. Remove it from user/library/preferences

Thanks again, I still had the Metro demo installed, I got rid of it and got rid of the problem.
