Using Keyboard when Auditioning sounds

When the "Select sound for channel" pop is open, is the only way to hear the instruments by using the on screen keyboard? My USB board will not play the sound until I close the pop-up.

Although I am not too sure what you are asking I am confident that you will not have this problem if you use the DLS musicdevice instead. Check the answer to your other post.
