I know this is not the appropriate forum to post this but if someone can direct me to a correct link or have any form of knowledge about it would be appreciated.

I want to record cover material in midi format and sell it via web just as an extra income and because I really like what I do.

I like to know what type of licence I need for this.
Would the fees for it be yearly, monthly, per midi file sold... Help

Permission to record a cover tune is required. In this case do I still need permission?
Or record the cover tune and keep track of the sales so that royalties are distributed accordingly?

Do I get the license through BMI, ASCAP or ...?

Jerm, would you mind pitching in too?
By the way Jerm, how about having a forum just for general question about music business or something related in this field?
Just my .2 cents.

Except my apologies for the posting in this forum
Thank you.

I don't know the answer to any of your questions but I think I did my part by creating this "music" forum. No?

Jerm you're the best.
I really had a good feeling when I purchased Metro LX back in March just by looking at the forum and how involved you get with Metro users and three days ago I've upgraded to Metro because I needed a few more features not available in SE and LX.
You got yourself a customer and user for life.

thank you
