I have a single MIDI track, play back with Port:Internal.
Then install plug-in DLSMusicDevice, port changes and play back works accordingly.
Then re-assign Port:Internal -> no sound.

It is best to install MusicDevice (VSTi) plug-ins on an aux buss.
