Use the ~/Library/Application Support folder

Postby buserror » Wed May 21, 2003 10:22 am

Since Jerm is so active and feeds us many nice new version, it's kinda problematic to update to the current one while keeping the old one; one has to copy many folder contents for the plugins etc.

It would be nice if Metro was looking FIRST in ~/Library/Application Support/Metro before looking into it's local folders.

That way we could copy all our stuff into the ~/Library and be able to keep several copies of Metro without having to copy/move everything to the new folders.

Buserror,

Good suggestion. However right now I am swamped with other stuff on my plate. When things slow down a bit I will investigate doing this.

I am not exactly sure how this helps though, since plug-ins are already stored in different locations than the Metro folder. Perhaps presets?

Yup, that and "Program Names & Drum Kits" where I have to copy my files everytime I install a new build :-)
I know that folder is not used by name, but since it's specific to metro it'd be nice to have them in Application Support anyway...

Why not just copy the metro app to the old folder?
Isn't it the only thing changing?

Why would you want to keep old versions if they're not compatible with newly created files? (ie. the jump to 6.0.7)

If you were to move things about would it affect OS9 users?

scoot.
