Hi-Hats & DLS/SoundFont

I don't know if this belongs in this forum, but here goes.

I am trying to lay down some drum grooves with the built-in DLS/soundfont plug-in. I have tried many of the different soundfont banks out there, but I am having some problems with finding the right hi-hat. I want to be able to trigger the open hi-hat sound and have it terminate when triggering the closed hi-hat sound.

Currently all the soundfonts I have used play both sounds fine, but the closed hi-hat sound does not terminate the open hi-hat. This is obviuosly important when creating disco-type grooves, etc.

Could someone suggest a good soundfont or software sampler that will let me do this? I am using Metro 6 SE on OSX. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I'll start downloading. I think, however, that I might just purchase Sampletank. It seems to do everything that I want in the free version, so I assume the regular version will do more than I want. Unfortuantely, it is a little pricey... but I guess it beats buying a piece of hardware!

Sampletank is great, has mutually exclusive hi-hats with its built-in drums sounds and I highly recommend it.

With that said, some of the drum sets are a little skimpy in that they have a minimal set of drums.

I wonder if the mutually exclusive groups is an Apple problem and not a soundfont problem? Anyone else know?

Sampletank also imports Akai format samples.

Samoletank's standard versions may have limited drums, but you could purchase a drum CD that comes with Sampletank LE with it.

I think sampletank is more CPU friendly than soundfonts but soundfonts are free.
Soundfonts would need effects to be added outside of them (except reverb) whereas sampletank has a lot of built in effects.
