Metro stops working after Apple update

It has come to my attention that a recent Apple update breaks compatibility with all 32bit apps that use CoreAudio which includes Metro. If this happens and you are running a OS version before Catalina then you can most likely fix the problem by carefully following the instructions found here.

Hello Jeremy:

I'm a victim of Apple's 32-bit CoreAudio fiasco. For numerous reasons (mostly hardware) I can't replace the MobileDevice.framework file that Apple updated with the latest iTunes update, which is the fix described in the link you gave. I also can't upgrade to Catalina as it will break many, many other apps on which I rely.

Do you have any plans to release an update to Metro LX that will address this? I have Metro LX 7.3.4.

First of all, updating to Catalina will not work because Metro is a 32 bit app and Catalina does not run 32 bit apps.

Sorry but there is no way I can release a change in Metro LX that will allow the OS to run 32 bit apps. You need a fix in the OS.

I received an email from a user today which may be helpful to others. It states:
...I found a dual-architecture version of the MobileDevice.framework file which solves the problem. The procedure is messy, requiring you to disable System Integrity Protection, which in turn requires you to boot into Recovery Mode, but it does indeed work.

This site has the procedure as well as a link to the dual-architecture MobileDevice.framework file: https://store.soundminer.com/pages/appl ... -for-32bit
