Why isn't Metro listed on the OS X Audio page?

Postby sseaton » Tue May 13, 2003 11:10 am

The osxaudio.com Web site is a great resource for all-things-digital-audio-and-midi, excpet for one big flaw. They do not include Metro under the heading "Apps: Audio/Sequencer". They seem to have every other app listed. The listing of apps goes back as far as March 26, 2002.

I did a search for Metro on the osxaudio.com Web site, and they did have information. But what about people who don't know about Metro? If one doesn't know that Metro exists, how can one search for it? ;)

Has anyone contacted osxaudio.com about this omission? If not, maybe I will. :D

I posted the following to the OS X Audio Web site:

Could you please put the Metro information quoted below in the "Apps: Audio/Sequencer" section of your Web site? Metro is made by Sagan Technology and their Web site is www.sagantech.biz . Jeremy Sagan can be contacted at |censored| . I think the OS X Audio community would appreciate this information. Thanks! --Sean Seaton (sseaton@solon.k12.ia.us)

Yeh, I often wondered about things like this. Over here in UK we have a magazine called Sound on Sound, and I don't think I ever read any mention of Metro, even though they have a fair bit of Mac stuff, and I'm sure at one point it was the cheapest (and maybe the only) VST/AU recording software that was available. I even sent an e-mail to them in December with links to Sagantech website. I've just done a search on their website and the only thing that comes up is a review of Metro 4!!. Having now searched again in the forums, I found this -

"We're in the process of organising an SOS review at present. It should appear in either the June or July issues.

cheers,

Sam" (SOS features editor)

Oh well, it only took them 6 months!

I would not be surprised to see that this review is also delayed. I know the original author has now backed out of doing it.

The Admin of the OS X Audio page put the article about Metro 6.0 on the Apps: Audio/Sequencer page. They erroneously put it on the Apps: Recorder/Editor page before, so technically it was on their site all along. Anyway, it is where it should be now... along with Logic, Cubase, etc.

Another interesting point, when 3rd party manufacturers write their manuals, they usually refer to how their plug in will work with pro tools, performer, cubase and logic.

I assume they think their plugin will work in metro the same way as cubase as that is usually the VST program referred to.
