(Sub-)Section questions.

Postby Lytz1 » Tue Oct 02, 2018 8:56 am

Hey there,

I have some issues regarding subsections.
They seem to irregularly freeze metro when I add them and then hit play. Trying to track down the problem.

1) So I found out that Subsections respect their own tracks mute status, which is pretty cool, but I am not sure if this intended?
(Maybe it gives metro problems when track-mute states are different for several tracks in each subsection?)

2) Also the tracks in subsections can be looped, which results in more or less infinite subsecion lenght basically.
Is it better to limit the subsections to a specific lenght (i.e. disable all loops on tracks in the subsection?)

Any other tips or ideas what might cause Metro to spinning-ball when trying to play back subsections?

Thanks,
tL

If you have a way to repeat this problem, please tell me the steps and if necessary send me the data files.

Not sure what you mean. When you mute a track that contains subsections, all playing subsections within that track are also muted.

This a good way to get loops to occur within the middle of a song.

Should definitely not happen. Are you using a beta version?

No, I mean Mutes in the Subsections itself.
I try to clarify: If the same 4 tracks with identical content are in 2 different subsections
I can mute track 1 & 2 inside Subsection 1 and mute track 3&4 inside Subsection 2.

When I add the Subsections 1 & 2 to the Main Arrangement, the Mute-state gets respected.
(i.e. Subsection 1 plays track 3&4, and Subsection 2 plays track 1&2. the mutes that are enabled/disabled inside
the subsection are getting respected in the top level arrangement)

Yes, the latest from the website. 7.307

I think that makes sense since subsections are just pointers to the original section. (option-dragging makes a copy I believe).

Alright. Yeah, I also think this is actually pretty cool. Just wasn't sure if this was a glitch
and might cause problems at top-level.

I will see if I run into some issues again and try to keep track of what exactly I did before something breaks.

Best,
tL.

You can send me the document for analysis if you want.

It isn't document specific. I have this issue irregularly in all projects, no matter which one.
I see if I can send you something anyway though...

Best,
tL.
