SE 7.2.4 crashing on Windows 10

When I try to run, it says it has stopped working. Here's info from the Windows event log:

That's all. It used to run before, but it runs on my Windows 10 laptop without problems.
Hardware: Asus H97 Mobo, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 latest update

I tried running it in various compatibility modes but no success.

Okay thanks for the report, I will try to see if I can reproduce it. Is there anything special that you have to do or did you simply launch it?

Please try to remove the Metro preferences file/folder. You will need to re-qualify. It is located here: C:\Users\yourname\Documents\SaganTechnology

Where c: is your startup drive and yourname is your user name.

I did uninstall, remove all the folders in the sagantech directory, and reinstall. Completed the qualifying, entered the info from the email, and the app crashed again.

I tried SE under windows 10 and it works fine for me. Can you please email info_at_sagangtech.biz (where _at_ = @) and please include your exact OS and whether you are running the 32 bit or 64 bit version. If it is the 32 bit version include what version of quicktime you are running. Also we will need the exact steps you take to make it crash since you were able to get past the qualification dialog.

Perusing the port audio mailing list there does seem to be an incompatibility introduced in Windows 10 for some realtek devices:

The fix/workaround someone suggested is to disable the "Stereo Mix" input device (and let it default to "Microphone") in the sound control panel. Try that and let me know.

Also I think I have a fix for this problem. If interested, email me.

I'm not able to even launch Metro on Windows 10 64 bit. Tried 8 compatibility mode, nothing. Tried deleting the preference files, nothing. I'm going to try the beta now...

Is it working fine on the new windows 10 creators edition?

This problem (with port audio) has been fixed so (although we have not tried it yet) it should work fine.
