MP3 in metro

Postby françois » Thu Mar 26, 2009 1:26 am

hello I want to create a mp3 audio back up in my songs.
For example : if the samplers, synths are break down, I activate the mp3 track ad the song continues as well. But if I do that in AIFF it takes a lot of memory, and I've got 4 Go of ram, but almost 100 Songs.... in metro sessions to back up with audio tracks.
Could someone help me ?

Thanks
François

You can certainly backup each song as a .MP3 file and then load it in as needed. However internally Metro will convert it to .AIF.

in fact I must sync the audio file imported with some drummer clics..
I will create a Big Master Session ( 200 songs ) with at each a AIFF track ( if my ram accept that ) I've got 2Go in one computer, and 4 Go in another.

And before the session, I will cut the file in 3 ou 4, And wait during 2 mintues to load the new session, like that I will work with a session more light and more secure on stage...
what to you think of that ?

I must to remain with my big session, because some times I change the order of the songs...

If you have the latest verison I think all you have to do is set your default audio file preference (in preferences) to caf. Then open an AIF and export track.

CAF's are NOT smaller than aif though so you will not save any space. Also any references to aif files may be lost if you delete the aif's.

Nowadays storage is very very cheap. I remember about 20 years ago I paid $800 for a 40 MB drive. That is no joke.

I would get another drive if I were you or you could archive to CD or DVD. If you have to save space you could convert you aif's to MP3 or Apple's lossless format.

The quickest way to convert files in Metro is to select them all in the Jukebox window and then right-click to select the conversion format.

I really do not understand the question. Is this a bug report?
