audio editing ?

Metro has some charm for me, works very fast and bugless.
But I think about this, why are some features so "obsolete" ...

F.e. audio editing is for present time so ridiculous ...

1. Why is fade out, fade in and crossfade so complicated ? And why is only destructive ? Do you plane any simply features for fade operatinos ?

2. Isn't Metro overpriced ? In comparsion with f.e. Cockos Reaper ? It has much more features ...

Fade out is not only destructive. You can go the audio volume view and draw a volume line. Select the pencil key and hold the control key to draw a straight line. Or you could go to the continuous data dialog and specify fade in (0-127) or fade out (127-0) by changing audio volume gradually.

It could be easier, yes. Can you suggest an easier way?

I agree with your first line. Metro is fast and no bugs, thanks to Jeremy.

About being obsolete, I wouldn't put it that way because it does do what you are looking for, in a different way, but it works. Can it be improved? I'd say "yes it can." There's always room for improvement.

Metro overpriced? No. Not one bit compared to "CR." I had to download it yesterday after reading your post and check it out. I'm not downing the software,(what works for the others, may not work for me), but after 2 hours, I started to climb the walls. It does things in a very strange way and I've been using AUDIO/MIDI software since the Opcode era. So, I stopped and explored the features that it has and my conclusion is- "CR" comes up short by 10 miles. I don't know where you see more features then Metro. "CR" lacks a ton on the midi end too.

And also, Metro is not overpriced compared to other well known Audio/Midi sequencers on the market today and you still have a professional sounding sequencer. When bugs are found, they are fixed in a very short time, try that with the others

I made some animated gifs for example, what I mean ...
CR was only one example, features similar to Reaper has each DAW, I work with Cubase, Sonar, Samplitude, Ableton Live, ProTools ...

Fade

The Edit menu's Audio > Fade command allows you to choose how suddenly your audio clip fades out or fades in. You have three volume shapes to choose from:

Exponential 1 slopes steeply at high amplitudes and then flattens out

Exponential 2 slopes steeply at low amplitudes and then flattens out

Linear straight-line slope

You also select how much of an amplitude change you want by filling in a percentage in the number fields at the botom of the Fade dialog box.

To fade in or out:

In the Graphic Editor or Tracks windows, select the part of an audio clip that you want to fade in or out.

From the Edit menu, choose Audio > Fade.

The Fade dialog box appears.

Choose the volume shape you want to apply.

In the From 'N'% to 'N'% fields, type the percentages by which you want the volume to change.

Click OK.

Metro applies the volume shape and percentage change that you choose.

And this is "simply" fadeout in Metro.

Do you understand me ?

Of course, "user friendly" is very individual thing, but here is clear, what is "simply" for me.
And not only for me ...

thank You for Your opinion.

As I wrote, "simplicity" and "user friendlyness" are very relativ and individual.
For me is Reaper or Cubase or Logic much friendly as Metro. Reaper is powerfull
and his routing is very flexible, I can route from each track to each track, I can
for example separately record effect output from other track etc. Reaper comes
with many plugins (EQ, comp, gate, reverb, ...)
When I want use EQ in Metro, must I have external plugins ? I don´t find any plugins
in Metro ...
About support - Metro has very good and fast support, thanks to Jeremy. But Reaper
has also very good support and each 2 weeks has new upgrade.

Maybe this is force of habit, for You is work with Reaper "climb the walls", but I didn´t succeed
quickly work in Metro ... and I ask for what reason, because I work with many DAWs without
problems, this is my work

yes, why not ? Metro is very processor friendly and has very good look. And very good sound ...

Because Metro for Windows is still only beta. Because I work a lot with samples and have 16 GB RAM, so I need 64bit aplication. I have Metro demo and I learn it now ... and Reaper is perfect for me, but hasn´t score editing ...

... and 99 MIDI track is not to much, I work with orchestral templates, which have 120 and more track. And 64 audio tracks is insufficiently for serious work, I am sorry ...
