"Pre" Release or Release?

Postby Sami23 » Fri Apr 25, 2003 4:31 pm

Is the "Metro G4 Pre-release version 6.07" in the Download area the same as "Metro 6.07" listed at versiontracker.com yesterday (-3-24-03)? The term "Pre-release" is throwing me off :)

I assume a pre-release version is a version with bug fixes that users can try out but there's no guarantee that is will work exactly like the standard version. Try it at your own risk but don't blame us if it crashes. :D

Usually it more likely that something may not work correctly especially when bringing a new feature to the program.

Hi Scooterman...

My assumption is the same as yours about "pre" releases, that's why I'm thrown off about the version in the download area and wondered :?

If you check versiontracker.com's listings for yesterday you will see "Metro 6.0.7 - Audio, MIDI and video sequencer" listed as a update. When you follow the links you end up on the download page here and find "Metro G4 Pre-release version 6.07" only.

So... I was wondering if Jeremy had inadvertently left the "pre" on this version.

Thanks for your comments...

It is this way because what you get from Version Tracker is a demo and the demo is 6.07. From the downloads the version is a pre-release because it is only officially released in demo form. They are the same versions even though one is called pre-release.

I think you will find that we provide releases which include important fixes in a very time efficient way. This means that all important testing is not as thorough as some would like. When the program has been in use for a substantial amount of time without problems then the version will be officially released.
