Tap Tempo & Notation

Hello Jerm,

I'm starting to score some of my music for performance and found out that my free form style of sequencing won't produce decent notation when importing the midi file into Sibelius or in Metro's notation window for that matter. I'm now re-sequencing it using the metronome and quantizing, a tedious process.

An arranger said that tap tempo can be used in place of metronome.

Is this option really going to make the notes line up properly in a score or is it just a feature that allows you to easily set the tempo and insert tempo changes in a section.

The easiest way to adjust for tempo timing is to drag bar lines. It would be very difficult to use tap tempo for that.

The arranger said you could also drag the bars around until they clicked in.

He said this "click in" is a feature in DP and Cubase. You probably select the option and you get a click sound every certain beat.

I don't think I want to spend a lot of money to find out what he is talking about. I'd like to see it demonstrated for me and then I can judge if it's a real solution.

Probably the best thing to do is to start using the metronome when needed.

Maybe the "click in" option could be something to have in Metro if it's feasible.

Well, I bought DP and have gone through the video tutorial and have received some project files from a cyber buddy.

From what I can see, for me Metro is a more intuitive, less cluttered and better environment for midi editing and all around composing. It's probably good to learn to use a couple of sequencers but right now for my needs Metro will be my choice because it just gets the job done.

I just thought I'd mention this for other users who have similar questions and to thank Jerm for his support of this very useful product.
