Simple Sampler Interface...

Postby jokrg » Mon May 12, 2008 11:29 am

I have limited ability (and limited equipment capabilities), but still need a very simple Sample playing device.. It would be great if the Rhythm device you made or something similar could play the samples I have amassed on a keyboard format.

I don't understand. What do you mean by 'Rhythm device you made'?

If you are looking for a simple sampler have you checked out 'VSamp'? There are others that are low cost or may be free, for example Satellite free allows you to load your own .aif or .wav I believe. There is also Apple's DLS MusicDevice which allows you to load soundfonts and I think there is a utility somewhere which will let you create your own soundfonts.

Links to these and others can be found on our links page.

Rhythm Device...aka Rhythm Explorer device

Postby jokrg » Mon May 26, 2008 5:58 pm

I will continue to "troll" the web for a sampler that does just that.. Also, I have found MUSOLOMO by Plasq, but before I can call it "that ideal sampler ", I have to make sure I know how to use it right.

One of the problems I ran into was not understanding how to make it record the samples as i have Dragged, dropped and played them out...AND how to record live audio on-the-fly.

Any insights on how to best set it up to achieve all the above?

Thanks.

JokrG

btw, Happy Memorial Day!

clarifying...

Let me clarify that:

One of the problems I ran into was that I could not understand how to set Metro LX up to record Midi to Audio in a way similar to how it is supposed to work in other applications (I was able to do a simple playback of .wav items that I dragged and dropped into the plugin)...AND how to record live audio on-the-fly.

Thanks.

How is it "supposed to work in other applications"?

To record live audio on the fly, record enable an audio track, then while playing back press the record button.

In A.Live (for example), you set up a Audio Track AND a Midi Track... The Midi track triggers Musolomo, and the audio plays thru on that Audio Track. In others, you might set up a "side chain" to achieve the same end. At least, that is my amateur understanding of the process.

I don't know anything about Musolomo (other than it is PPC only) but if it is configured to receive audio and MIDI then Metro will allow you to place it on an audio track. The audio data and MIDI data on that track will be sent to the plug-in. The Track's output should be configured to send to Musolomo (this will happen automatically when the plug-in is instantiated) and the audio output(s) can be routed from the effects window.
