Movie effects and saving work

Postby paularenson » Sat Feb 09, 2008 10:16 pm

I have more or less figured out the titles options for movies. But one reference in the manual is about movie effects. I looked, but do not see this menu option anywhere. Like transitions, etc.

Also, is there a recommended procedure to editing movies and saving as you go along? I tried saving and a bndl and export, but this froze,. I had my original files--> the sounds BEFORE the edits and all the video cuts. But I had to reassemble them. Thanks.

Did you look in editmenu:video:effects & transitions ?

You should be able to simply save, save as bundle, or export as movie. If you can give me steps to repeat the problem I can take a look at it. What versions of OS, Metro and Quicktime are you using?

Hi Jerm.

Let's see:

QT Pro version 7.4 (92)
And Metro 6.4

Trying to save as a QT Move the file (an hour, by the way, so i expected it would take time) is still saving after 8 hours.....and the counter gets longer the longer it saves....

Trying to save as a Bundle it says FLATTENING MOVIE , and then says, after 1 minute, Saving Media to Portable Bundle, followed by -41 Memory Full (open) or file won't fit (load).

I checked my hard disk and I have 152 GB of memory (62 used and the rest marked as available).

G5 PPC tower

thanx

Oh, if I simply save I get -54
ATTEMPT TO OPEN LOCKED FILE FOR WRITING.

I just found a few files which MAY BE the saved versions of previous attempts, meaning I may have successfully saved. I click them, they open, but when I do SAVE AS I get the same message as above.

Will try the EXPORT again and see what happens after a while....

Thanks Jerm. Wow, that is a bummer. So if I read it right Apple has fixed it, so now I need to get the update, or something else......hang on a bit perhaps? Or revert to previous QT, or???

BTW, this reminds me that I preferred things when they had their old IMOVIE HD. It worked much more smoothly, but I guess that is another issue.

Thanks for checking...

And by the way, I am blown away by Metro's usefulness not only as Midi and audio but also video editing.

I almost don't need anything else (not that I am about to throw out my flight simulators and Word processing programs. And I guess I will still keep my microwave open.) But almost everything I use on a daily basis is taken care of.
