Human feel enhancement

Postby Stephanie » Mon Sep 03, 2007 5:54 pm

Human Feel has an option to randomise start times of notes. If there are two successive notes, say A4, such that the end of one coincides with the start of the next (as often happens with step entry or OCR programs), then it's possible for the note-on of the second to get randomised before the note-off of the first.

The note-off of the first A4 chops off the second A4 - at least on my synth.

I can fix this manually with Duration > extend durations to next note but must do so bar by bar and note group by note group.

It would be nice to have an option to check if human-felt notes are going to overlap an already playing note of the same pitch, and shorten the first note to correct.

A more generally useful idea might be to incorporate this functionality in the Duration dialog (e.g. Trim overlapping notes, perhaps with a minimum gap between them).

It is definitely a useful feature. The problem is that when it usually happens there are 2 note offs and 2 noteons and the data sent down the MIDI cable is ambiguous.

Perhaps an option in the duration dialog for fix overlapped notes and this would shorten the overlapped notes so that the first note's off time is one (or user specified minimum gap) clock before the beginning of the second note's on time. Does that sound like what you are looking for?
