I keep trying to record the midi data but can not get it done using Metro LX.

I can do it with DigitalPerformer 4.6 and CubaseSX3 but end up in complete frustration using Metro LX. Therefore, nothing changes in the physical/midi setup in using the midi sequencers.

Multi-track midi recording/playback happens as follows using the real time arranger keyboard:

Midi data is sent and received to/from 12 midi tracks in total.

When you play the right hand ( melody part of a song ) midi data is sent/received in 3 midi tracks.

When you "chord" in the left hand the "band" sends/receives midi data in 8 midi tracks. Briefly, my term "band" means that there may be a drum part, guitar, piano and so on.

How do I setup metro to multi track record/playback?

The easiest way would be to record enable a track and assign its output to Port:PSR3000. This would be selected from the edit port selection in the output popup of the tracks window. Then record on to the single track. After recording completes, use the expand by channel command to place each MIDI channel on an individual track.

Alternatively you could assign each channel a track and select the corresponding MIDI input channels you want to record from for each track.

TVM.

The easiest way would be to record enable a track and assign its output to Port:PSR3000

After trying that it was still not recording correctly. Then I realized by clicking on that output column that I should assign the output to Port-PSR3000-ALL. That is, using that drop-down-menu and selecting "ALL" at the bottom of that listing of tracks 1 through 16 ).

After recording I played that track and VICTORY.

then I used the expand by channel.

Victory!!!

Sometime later on I will try assigning each channel to it's corresponding MIDI output.

Once again, thanks Jerm it now works for me.

I assume you mean the input select column (inpsel) here and not the outputs column.

I’ve got a yamaha PSR 3000 and i had the problem that you met. Simple trick : Record it to one midi track. Then use "dissolve part" from the midi menu. Hope I’ve helped you.
