Just paid my money and not sure...what is UB prerelease

I will go and download the latest version (I don't see the option for
the Metro 6 G4 Altivec. Infac t, I don't even see an explanation for it in support, so two questions.....what is Altivec, the one I chose because it seemed interesting and, what is the UB prelease.


Last question...can I always download the new version????

The download section seems to imply that. Or just for a certain amount of time???

I just bought 6.2 from the web site and this is the same day tthat 6.38 is announced? Do I have to buy an upgrade since I did not have that option?

No you have the new version available. Version 6.3.8.2 is the UB or Universal Binary version. This version runs natively on G4, G5 and Intel based Macintoshes. It does not run on G3's or earlier processors.

The altivec is a 128 bit vector processor found in the G4 and G5 chips. This processor can provide significant speed increases in certain applications, specifically digital audio and video.

So to recap, there is nothing available to buy newer than what you already have access to.

Now the only bummer is that the settings i worked hard to figure out for my presonus were not saved from the demo to this new one, so i have to bother tech with the same probably nitwit questions.


Inputs are whowing up as outputs and vice versa.

Well, i w ill wait ratherthan write here since tech may be looking at it right now.

If anyone HAS or understands the Presonus Firepod, it works right outof the box witr Garageband, but not so easily with metro. But i bought it on the strengh of my getting it finally in the demo.
