Metro 6.3.8 Prerelease now available

Postby Jerm » Tue Dec 12, 2006 2:08 pm

6.x to 6.2 Upgrades are, for the time being, free. All new purchases include access to this version. There is an upgrade price of $34.99 to upgrade any flavor of Metro 6.x to 6.3.8.

Download it here:
http://www.sagantech.biz/downloads

IMPORTANT: The official system requirements have changed as of 6.1.

IMPORTANT: Metro Documents written with this version will NOT be readable in any version prior to Metro/Metro SE version 6.3.6.

IMPORTANT: OS 9 support has been removed.

IMPORTANT: This is a pre-release, meaning it has some bug fixes (and possibly features) that were deemed important enough to be released before it could be rigorously tested.

We want our software to be bug free. If you find any bugs please report them here.

New to this version: 6.3.8
• Virtual Instruments (VI's) can now have their audio volumes and pans automated. A new display mode of the graphic editor allows the selection of audio volume and audio pan for VI track types.
• Metro now finds MIDI input devices even when their uniqueness changes. This works around a bug in MIDIkeys.
• MIDI track input selection is much more versatile. Any combination of MIDI channels can be selected on input with the new submenu popup in the tracks window.
• Metro now defaults to Apple's generic Audio Unit interface if the plug-in does not have one. This is configurable on a plug by plug basis in the plug-ins window.
• The audio fade dialog has been improved.
• A remote control preset for the M-Audio Axiom controller.

Fixed in this version:
• Cosmetic problem when Mixer window was sized too small.
• Problem with data ranges in the continuous data display of the graphic editor.
• Bypass automation was not limiting its values to just on and off.
• MIDI data was not being drawn underneath continuous audio volume and pan for Virtual Instrument tracks.
• Better stability.
• Improved CoreAudio reliability.
• Removed an annoying flash that was occurring on open and new when transport was floating.
• The continuous data dialog was not displaying the title of the select data correctly in some cases.
• Selecting float transport window from the switches menu while the transport was not visible would cause the transport to not redraw correctly in some cases.
• Initial import of audio was not extracting the tempo from the audio file in 6.3.7.
• If an input audio port was out of range no error message would occur until recording in some cases.
• Recent plug-ins could mysteriously disappear in some cases.
• Automating pan was excruciatingly slow in some cases.
• The countoff was counting 1/2 as long as it should in some cases.
• Minor correction when automating Audio Unit parameters.
• Better support for automation only tracks.
• Certain Audio and MIDI tracks were not being muted properly during record.
• A problem whereby Metro would try to close a non-existent CoreMIDI connection if a selected record MIDI device recently came online.
• Undo of record now properly restores the select track range.
• Jukebox now correctly parses the full OS X file name.
• Old Rhythm Explorer presets now default to staccato = 50% instead of 0.
• In some case recording audio through a plug-in like 'Apple:Pitch' would not initially playback properly.
• The contextual tracks window output menu would not always show the correct connection if a track was frozen.
• Clicking on the tempo door of the transports more than once was causing a problem.
• Selecting 0 in the scale time dialog could cause a crash on Intel Macs.
• Scale time would not always set the track length appropriately.
• Using return when in 'editing mode' no longer moves the graphic editor display.

6.3.8.1

Postby Jerm » Wed Dec 13, 2006 4:48 pm

6.3.8.1 has been posted. This version simply fixes a minor issue whereby the Transport window was not showing up when initially launching Metro, Metro SE or Metro LX.

I do not think so. LX or SE would work though.

Metro 6.3.8 and greater require a G4, G5 or Intel processor.

How can I help you? Why don't you just use 6.2?

for instance I use METRO 6.33 with my ibook G3 800 mhz, and it runs perfectly with 640 Mo ram and under os X 10.4.8.

But my " master " is running with a PowerBook G4, that is recently with METRO 6.3.8.1. I don't notice that this version doesn't run with G3's.
I can't use my files saved with 6.3.8.1 with my ibook under 6.33. it don't open.

I don't want to buy a Macbook now, because I only use the ibook G3 in case of an powerbook failure on stage.

am I explicit ?

Can see what he means, I have a similar situation where I write my Metro files on my G5 iMac and then transfer them as midi files to my G3 iBook where I use them to perform. I transfer the original file as well but of course I cant open it with the G3 Metro if I need to make a change. It's not a major issue - I just import the midi file into my G3 Metro, but it would be kinda handy if there was a 'save as non G4/5' option in the G4/5 version.
Otherwise, great app. I've other music programs but even after 3 or 4 yearsI nearly always go back to Metro especially for the midi end.

Well I am considering building a version of 6.3.8.2 that will work on G3's. This would only be available by request. That would be the simplest solution at this point.

Well I posted a G3 version of 6.3.8.3 that hopefully will work on a PPC G3. It will not work on intel and it does not include the installer. Use the UB installer and then replace the application with the contents of the .zip file for now.

If someone can let me know if this works on a G3 it would be appreciated as I do not have any G3's in house that are running OS X. The only G3 I have is a retired Beige Tower running OS 9.

You can get this version (for now) from our downloads page after you log in.

yes jerm, it seems to be ok. I can convert now, and audio and midi are running very well for instance.

THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH.

You save my life.
