Quiting During Section Expansion

Postby fastlanephil » Fri May 05, 2006 10:58 pm

I have a Metro file with quite a few software instruments and I was getting crackles so I upped the RAM from 1 to 1.5 GB and it seems to have solved that problem but it took three times before I could expand the sections without Metro quitting as it was doing before I added more memory. I think the problems started when I swapped in Art Vista's VGP which is quite a CPU hog or maybe there is a bug associated with it.

If I run into that problem again I guess I could bring in VGP after section expansion if that is a doable work-around or do I possibably need to up my iMac G5 to 2 GB of RAM.

Is Metro 6.3.5 needing more memory than previous versions now that it's Universal?

No there is no more memory requirements. However there was a nasty bug that could cause a crash when expanding sections that was fixed in 6.3.5.3. Which version are you using? If you are using 6.3.5.3, can you email me the crash log?

I was using the previous version. I saw the bug fix for 6.3.5.3 and have upgraded. I rendered a pretty large file recently with no problems so hopefully the bug has been fixed.
