Simple instructions for using Metro with Reason?

Postby aslotkin » Wed Apr 05, 2006 12:37 am

Perhaps something like this has already been addressed on this board before, but if so, I couldn't find it (and my humble apologies).

Basically, I am running a full, registered copy of Metro G4 6.3.5.1 and a full, registered version of Reason 3.0.4 on my iMac G4. I'm none too savvy about either program right now, and would just like to be able to use Reason as a sound source controlled by Metro. From what I've read, I should be able to accomplish this using Rewire. However, I cannot seem to get Metro to "see" Reason and select instruments loaded into Reason from within Metro.

I have tried to follow this process: Load Metro first, and enable "Rewire" from the "Special" menu. This then launches Reason automatically, and I add a new instrument to the Reason rack (a Combinator patch, for instance). Then I go back into Metro and click on the "Outputs" section of the enabled track in the Tracks window and select "Edit Port..." But here, I don't get any option to select the Combinator, Reason or anything like that. Just Built-In Audio, Internal, Movie and the hardware devices I've entered into the Audio MIDI Setup application.

Please let me know if there are any other steps I should take in getting Metro to interact with Reason, and again, sorry if my question has been covered before.

Thanks.

Alex

Okay, this is weird -- I installed fresh copies of both Reason and Metro on my Powerbook, and the method I described before to link up the two programs actually worked.

Perhaps my preferences on the other machine are corrupt?

Not really sure. You could try removing preferences.
