Peak causes channel to cut out

Lately (as of the last week or two), I've been having an issue with cut out. More specifically, whenever playing an instrument through Metro, if the instrument peaks, the track will cut out. However, if other tracks are playing back through the same speakers, via the same cables, they will not cut out. The problem occurs whether recording or not recording and just playing through. While recording, the same issue occurs: if the instrument being recorded peaks, it will cut out (though continue to record properly), and the other tracks will continue to play on just fine. If another track has recorded a peak, and plays back that peak, it will not cut out. Of course, we can turn down the inputs to keep this from happening, but it was never an issue previously, and it can get rather annoying when trying to record. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. Any further info needed to make a good assessment, feel free to ask.

It sounds like your preference setting 'feedback protection' is on. This will turn off software audio thru if you are overloading to avoid causing deafness if you are wearing headphones when this occurs.

You can turn this off but if you are clipping during recording you really cannot recover the original audio waveform.

The full version of Metro has a feature called Software Audio Thru that allows you to monitor a signal while you're recording it. If the Thru signal reaches a certain peak, the feature turns off (designed to prevent the affects of a feedback loop). You can restore Software Audio Thru by going to the Switches menu, deselecting Software Audio Thru, and then reselecting it. You can prevent loud peaks from turning off Software Audio Thru by going to the Metro G4 menu/preferences/ and checking "No Software Thru Feedback Protection." Click "Save" if you want Metro to remember that setting the next time it launches.
